Valentines for Toddlers

I read somewhere once that for a child’s birthday, Christmas, etc. you should gift them something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. I find this so helpful when I’m shopping for Louis and Judy!

Something they want: So Judy has never actually seen Peppa Pig but my mom got her a pair of PJs for Christmas, just cause she thought they were cute, and Judy LOVED them! She now zeroes in on any and all Peppa so I think this would fit the something they want catergory! Louis, like most boys these days, is next level obsessed with Paw Patrol and both kids really love coloring/crafts so I think these kits are perfect. Plus they are less than $15!

Pajama shirt and the Huntsville Museum of Art

One Saturday a month, the HMA hosts a Drop in and Create event for kids and their families to come do a craft and tour the museum for free.

It’s one of my favorite things to do with the family!

Right now they have an awesome Chuck Jones exhibit so Louis really enjoyed learning about Bugs Bunny. And by learning, I mean watching the cartoon clips.

It was another beautiful day in Huntsville so we forgot it was January and basically dressed like it was the first day of spring.

Friends and Family fondue night

Christmas in January! We didn’t get to celebrate the holidays with our dear friends in December so we just recently had a little gift exchange and fondue party.

Our friends’ two boys are around the same age as Louis and Judy so it’s always a great time when we get the families together!
Surprisingly, fondue is an awesomely kid-friendly meal. I mean, Judy mainly just eats bread but the boys loved the cherry tomatoes, kielbasa and apple slices!

Rocket City

I live in Huntsville aka Rocket City, AL. I could bore you with all of the awesome history of Huntsville and the space program during the 1960s but I’ll cut to the chase and tell you that we have an awesome museum dedicated to it and we love taking the kids there!

It was so cold the day we were playing at Rocket Park…pretty sure the high for the day was 32! That’s cold for Alabama my friends. Funny thing is, I remember when I used to walk to/from work when we lived in Baltimore that anything above 30 in the winter felt down right balmy.

Meet #Louisandjudy

My kids, Louis and Judy, are the best. If I say so myself 😉

When we brought our daughter Judy home, in February 2013, I documented their first meeting with the tag #louisandjudy on Instagram. If you’re ever feeling so inclined, you can see the last two years of our lives as a family of four. I really hope Instagram doesn’t go anywhere or I will be so sad to lose this little bit of family history!

Rainy day style

So my goal for the New Year is to blog. My awesome husband is going all in with me on this project so with his help, I think I might actually do this. We’re calling 2017 #yearofmendiola lol. We have big hopes for our family this year!

So without further ado, here is my ideal rainy day outfit. I always feel like I need to wear a hat when it rains and I love this one from the Gap! I’m not a fan of floppy hats, but mine is sold out. This one from Target looks good though!

Do you know AliExpress?

Long time no talk! I’m a horrible blogger. I haven’t figured out when I can coerce my husband into taking pics…and thus my hiatus.

Anywho…AliExpress. Are you familiar?? It’s basically eBay but better. You can find pretty much anything there but I have only ordered clothes or shoes. There is a bit of risk as it’s Final Sale since it’s coming directly to you from China but the deals are SO GOOD!

Culottes for the win

Hope everyone had a great weekend! It went by too quickly, but it was lovely!

We had nice weather on Saturday…and by nice, I mean not miserably hot which means I could comfortably wear these adorable pants I recently got from Loft.

I got these during Loft’s recent free shipping promo…those deals always get me!

I also roped the kids into this little photo shoot. They are just the best…my little crazies 🙂

Simple Shirtdress

I love how a classic shirt dress can be worn in so many ways. I am especially loving  this one I recently got from Banana Republic!

I love how the nipped in waist gives the dress some shape and absolutely adore the white cuffs! Gives an another wise plain dress, a bit of somethin’.

The dress was perfect for walking around Providence with the family! I felt put together but still able to run around with the kids.

Fancy pants

I like how silk joggers are basically an acceptable form of sweatpants. Perfect for #momlife

These purple ones are from Jcrew Factory last year, but I have seen them on EBay and I really like this pair from Nordstrom!

This fringe tee and jacket are both from Old Navy. The tee is sold out though.

My Chanel pin is not real so don’t be fooled lol.

These sunglasses are my favorite. Make me feel much cooler than I am.
