This was a pretty low key weekend around here. We have a lot planned for March and April so it was nice to just take it easy. The weather was pretty gorgeous on Friday and Saturday so we got in some strolls around the neighborhood.
And anytime the weather is decent, I bust out my dresses and skirts. This wrap dress is old J.Crew that my sister actually picked up from Buffalo Exchange in New Orleans. It has become one of my most favorite pieces! This option from Target is such a good dupe though!
On Friday evening, I took Judy to ballet while the boys made pizza. I cannot get enough of Judy’s ballet classes! She is so much smaller than the other girls and just so dang cute–you can catch my Instastories on Fridays to see the little miss in action lol!
Do you guys like to make your own pizza? Every Friday night is pizza and movie night here, and tend to make our own rather than order–although when we do, we order it from Marco’s. To make the pizza, I usually pick up a ball of dough from Kroger or I thaw a dough from Rhodes. To make the sauce, I brown some garlic in some butter and olive oil and then throw in a whole can of diced tomatoes. Let that reduce until the tomatoes get soft and start to break down and that’s it–then I just assemble and bake on bottom rack at 425 for about 12 minutes, perfect!
Saturday, we took the kids to the Rocket City Weatherfest where the kids had an awesome time learning about storms and climbing in all the storm chasing vehicles–it was really fun! I forgot my phone so I don’t have any pics (#bloggerfail) but we really enjoyed it and definitely plan on going again next year.
Ironically, there was a chance for severe storms on Saturday so I wore this outfit to the festival–I get really tired of wearing rain boots so when there’s a chance of rain, I usually wear leather sneakers and this pair from Old Navy are a steal! They definitely do run big as the reviews say–I am wearing a 6.5 and I almost always wear a 7.5!
As I am writing this on Sunday, I am still in my pjs at 11 AM and the kids are playing legos while Joe and I do some work. We are usually always going places so every once in a while, I force us to stay home and just be. Louis really struggles lol and that’s why I have to force it. He likes to be on the go and when I make it a TV free day, he REALLY struggles but again, that’s just why I have to do it–I think it’s good for us!
We kicked off this day, with a German Pancake from the If You Give a Pig Pancake book–we love this story and I’m happy to say that recipe was amazing! Almost like a cross between a pancake and french toast casserole, I loved that I could make pancakes for all of us at once and I think you could modify this recipe by cooking the blueberries in it, rather than placing on top–we will definitely try that next weekend!
Now I have a stew in the crockpot, the kids are in their sweats ( I die!) and we’ve got more plans to do nothing! Follow me on Pinterest to see my dinner board where I got tonight’s stew recipe and some of the boredom busters from the For the Kids board we are planning to bust out after naps!
