Man. Have we had a rough couple of weeks or what?! I had so many plans that have gone awry these last two weeks so I will try and backtrack and share some of the highlights and if you’re morbidly curious like I am, I’ll share of our illness details–fun!
Spring Fever
Our Weekend
This was a pretty low key weekend around here. We have a lot planned for March and April so it was nice to just take it easy. The weather was pretty gorgeous on Friday and Saturday so we got in some strolls around the neighborhood.
And anytime the weather is decent, I bust out my dresses and skirts. This wrap dress is old J.Crew that my sister actually picked up from Buffalo Exchange in New Orleans. It has become one of my most favorite pieces! This option from Target is such a good dupe though!
Rainy Day Style
What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? We have had plenty of them around here lately so I have had to get creative. If it were up to me, we’d just watch old movies all day but I don’t think the kids would go for that. Actually, Judy would but Louis not so much. Judy girl is always down for movies and has been such a mama’s girl lately that she goes along with whatever I’m doing and that’s a-ok by me!
My favorite old time movie is probably His Girl Friday or Roman Holiday–you have any faves? Or is watching a black & white movie a fate worse than death to you?? I actually just found out that TCM is showing old movies again in certain movie theaters and Huntsville is showing a few! You can see if a theater near you is participatinghere–we already bought our tickets for Philadelphia Story!
When I’m not eyeball deep in a movie marathon, I throw on my wellies and get the kiddos out of the house. We usually hit up the library or go out for a quick bite. Thankfully I snagged these leopard rain boots from J.Crew a years ago and have been wearing them anytime there’s even a chance of showers! I was able to find a really cute dupe from Ralph Lauren here –I prefer a short boot as I find them easier to move around in!
I also love how these boots allow me to pattern mix and one of my favorite combos is leopard + stripes–this sweater is an oldie but goodie (from J.crew naturally) but here is another cute striped sweater that would look great layered over your favorite chambray!
So what’s your go to rainy day look? Do you rock a pair of wellies or just throw on some well loved sneakers and call it a day?

Our Weekend
What a lovely weekend we had! I am writing this on Sunday afternoon and am still currently in my pajamas so you know it’s been a good one.
The Perfect Gift for Love Day
Valentine’s Day is a big deal for the Mendiola’s and we are already prepping! I just adore spoiling the ones I love and cannot get enough hearts, pink decor and sweets! Side note–Judy’s due date was actually Valentine’s Day so having her birthday end up on February 6 just means we get to love on her a little early!
Our weekend
This weekend we celebrated my Joe’s 30th birthday! We had a surprise visit from my wonderful in laws and brother in law, amazing cake from Smallcakes, fireworks at Bridgestreet, a chat with Santa and so much more! It was a whirlwind and not everything went according to my plan, i.e. rained out trip to the garden, hour + wait for bowling…but it was still a blast and I’d love to share some pics with you!
We kicked off the weekend by surprising Joe with his favorite cake –funfetti with chocolate buttercream from Smallcakes in Huntsville (OH EM GEE) and a visit from his parents and Judy’s new favorite guy, Uncle Tony. I can’t believe I pulled off the surprise! It was so stressful but so worth it for this guy!
Wish I’d gotten a better picture of the cake before we all demolished it! #bloggerfail
On Saturday, we went to the Kris Kringle market in Madison bright and early so the kids could take a picture with Santa but of course Santa wasn’t arriving until 1030 and we had to head downtown at 11 for the Norman Rockwell exhibit–#againwiththefail
I can’t complain because I did get to meet the amazing Ashley of Della’s Kitchen! Seriously she is so sweet and her stuff is so cute and not to mention, affordable! Be still my heart!
Also managed a few pretty cute pics of the kiddos before heading downtown!
And man the Norman Rockwell exhibit should not be missed! We all loved it–and I mean all of us–kids, grandparents and all!
What a beautiful weekend to kick off the holiday season!
